I’m Barbara Cato, Founder of Cato Controller Solutions.

I’ve spent my career working inside businesses where accounting isn’t theoretical — it’s an integral part of running the company every day. I have managed accounting operations, financial reporting, month‑end close, cash forecasting, inventory and cost accounting, internal controls, reconciliations, accounting teams, policies and procedures, and the many financial issues that arise as businesses grow and change.

One of the things I enjoy most is walking into a complicated financial situation and bringing structure to it. That can mean cleaning up the balance sheet, creating a month‑end close process that actually works, helping a talented bookkeeper develop stronger Controller‑level processes, or giving a business owner financial information they can finally understand and trust.

Why I started Cato Controller Solutions

Many growing companies reach a point where bookkeeping alone is no longer sufficient. They need stronger financial reporting, improved controls, cash‑flow visibility, and experienced financial leadership. Hiring a full‑time Controller can be expensive and may not yet make sense for every organization.

Cato Controller Solutions was created to fill that gap. I provide businesses with access to experienced Controller‑level financial management on a fractional or project basis.

My approach

I believe financial management should deliver three things:

• Control — Your accounting processes and internal controls should protect the business and produce reliable information.
